Very pretty 1948 watercolour painting by Italian artist Valentino Ghiglia. Delicate floral composition featuring a charming bouquet of marigold-like blooms in warm red, yellow, and white tones set gracefully against a muted taupe-gray background. Valentino Ghiglia (1903–1960) was an Italian painter and son of the renowned post-Macchiaioli artist Oscar Ghiglia. While Oscar was known for his early 20th-century modernist works, Valentino carved his own path with a more delicate, illustrative style often centered on still lifes and natural subjects. His works are less widely known but are appreciated by collectors of Italian art for their quiet beauty and refined technique. Pieces like this watercolor offer a rare glimpse into his mid-century creative output. Signed and dated 1948. Antique wooden frame with glass. In vintage condition with some imperfections to the frame. Slight rippling to the paper, nothing too distracting but could be rectified if new backing fitted.
