Original Belgian Oil Painting on Canvas by José Storie Floral composition 1930s Signed J. Storie. José Storie (1899 - 1961) was a renowned Belgian painter known for his still lifes and portraits. To the back of the painting is an original exhibition label from the Grand Prix de Cannes, an early 20th century art exhibition held in Cannes, France. Before the film festival existed, Cannes hosted seasonal art salons and competitions where artists exhibited their works and competed for prizes judged by a jury. In English the label reads “Grand Prize of Cannes – Flowers Category – To be fixed to the back of your artwork.” In antique condition with signs of wear commensurate with age. Please see all photos.
