Large vintage French wooden "garde-manger" cheese keeper. Mesh front and sides designed to keep cheese, bread, and other pantry goods protected while allowing them to breathe naturally. Its original green colour can be seen in parts beneath the existing deep brown. Original hook from where it would have been hung from a beam or ceiling. Wall hooks later addition. Gentle wear consistent with age. Paint chips in parts. The mesh, hinges, and latch are all functional. Mesh coming away slightly in one part. Please see all photos.
